Applications:

1.Holmium oxide is used in the manufacture of speciality coloured glasses. Glasses containing holmium oxide and holmium oxide solutions have a series of sharp optical absorption peaks in the visible spectral range. For this reason, they have traditionally been used as convenient calibration standards for optical spectrophotometers.

2. Ferrite metal, magnetostrictive material, phosphor additive, capacitor ceramic additive, atomic energy industry 

3. Uses in ceramics, glass, phosphors and metal halide lamp, and dopant to garnet laser. Holmium can absorb fission-bred neutrons, it is also used in nuclear reactors to keep atomic chain reaction from running out of control.
