Applications:

1. Terbium is used to dope calcium fluoride, calcium tungstate and strontium molybdate, which are used in solid-state devices and as a crystal stabiliser in fuel cells operating at high temperatures.

2. As a component of Terfenol-D, an alloy that expands and contracts more readily than any other alloy when exposed to magnetic fields, terbium is used in actuators, naval sonar systems, and sensors.
