Applications: 

1. Terbium (III,IV) oxide is used as a precursor for the preparation of other terbium compounds. It is used as a redox catalyst in reactions involving oxygen. At high temperatures, it releases oxygen.

2. It is used in the manufacture of glass, optics and ceramics. Terbium oxide nanoparticles are used as analytical reagents for the determination of drugs in food.
