Applications:
1. Nickel is commonly used in electroplating because of its corrosion resistance. Nickel cadmium batteries contain nickel.
2. It is mainly used in alloys (e.g. nickel steel and nickel silver) and as a catalyst (e.g. Raney nickel, especially as a hydrogenation catalyst) for money-making, etc. It is plated on other metals to prevent rusting.
3. Mainly used in the manufacture of stainless steel and other corrosion-resistant alloys, such as nickel steel, nickel-chromium steel and a variety of non-ferrous metal alloys, containing nickel content higher copper-nickel alloys, not easy to corrode.
4. Also used as hydrogenation catalysts and for the preparation of ceramic products, speciality chemicals, electronic circuits, glass stains and nickel compounds.
