Fancymetal offers high purity (customizable) metal products, as well as oxides, sputtering targets, foils, plates, wires, tubes, rods, powders.

Chemical symbol Ta, steel gray metal, in the periodic table belongs to group VB, atomic number 73, atomic weight 180.9479, body-centered cubic crystals, the common valence is +5. Tantalum's hardness is low and related to the oxygen content, ordinary pure tantalum, the Vickers hardness of the annealed state is only 140HV . Its melting point is as high as 2995 ℃, in the monomers, after carbon, tungsten, rhenium and osmium, ranked fifth. Tantalum is malleable and can be drawn into thin, filamentary foils. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is very small. Each higher degree Celsius only expansion of 6.6 parts per million.

In addition, it is very ductile, superior to copper.

Applications:

✔ Aerospace: used in the manufacture of engine components and gas turbines.

✔ Electronics: used as electrode material for capacitors.

✔ Medical: Used in the production of artificial joints and medical devices.

✔ Chemical industry: used as an ideal material for handling strong acids and bases.

Chemical properties:

Tantalum also has excellent chemical properties, with extremely high corrosion resistance, both in cold and hot conditions, and is non-reactive to hydrochloric acid, concentrated nitric acid and aqua regia. However, tantalum can be corroded in hot concentrated sulfuric acid, below 150 ℃, tantalum will not be corroded by concentrated sulfuric acid, only at temperatures higher than this temperature will have a reaction, at 175 ℃ in concentrated sulfuric acid for 1 year, was corroded by the thickness of 0.0004 mm, tantalum will be put into 200 ℃ sulfuric acid immersion for one year, the surface layer is only damaged 0.006 mm.

At 250 ℃, the corrosion rate increased, for each year was corroded thickness of 0.116 mm, at 300 ℃, was corroded more quickly, immersed in 1 year, the surface was corroded 1.368 mm. In fuming sulfuric acid (containing 15% SO3) the corrosion rate is more serious than in concentrated sulfuric acid, at 130 ℃ in the solution of 1 year, the surface corrosion thickness of 15.6 mm.

Advantages:

✔Strict quality control of raw materials and processes

✔Fast delivery time

✔Good service attitude.

✔Technical support: 24 hours via email

 Packaging:

The bars and strips are carefully placed in wooden crates or cartons with extra support from soft materials to prevent any shifting during transportation.

This method of packaging ensures product integrity throughout the delivery process.

 History:

In 1802, the Swedish chemist (A.G. Ekaberg, 1767~1813) discovered a new element by recrystallizing a mineral (columbite-tantalite) in Scandinavia after analyzing their acid to produce a fluoride complex salt, which he named with reference to the Greek mythological name of Tantalus, the son of the god Zeus. Tantalum.

Because niobium and tantalum have very similar properties, they were once thought to be the same element.

In 1809, the English chemist William Hyde Wollaston compared the oxides of niobium and tantalum separately, and although he came up with different density values, he concluded that they were identical substances.
